Students without a high school diploma or GED or with an IEP diploma may be able to attend C-GCC provided they meet the following admissions requirements:
The student must be at least 17 years of age prior to the start of the semester of enrollment.
The high school class with which the student entered ninth grade must have already graduated.
The student must meet with an Admissions Counselor.
Meeting with an admissions counselor allows us to work with each student individually to explain the admissions process, the New York State Education Department 24 credit-hour GED program and to answer all questions the student may have regarding his/her transition to higher education.
Provide official documentation of withdrawal from high school.
Submit to the Admissions Office an official high school transcript indicating the date of withdrawal. An official high school transcript is an original, signed and sealed document that comes directly from your high school to C-GCC.
Take the placement exam.
Students must meet the placement test scores necessary for admission to C-GCC in accordance with our admissions policies and New York State Education Department regulations for non high school graduates/non GED recipients. For more information about placement testing, please see our Placement Testing page.
Non high school graduates/Non GED recipients must have an official GED transcript on file with C-GCC prior to the College granting them a degree or certificate.
Students may earn their GED via a traditional GED program offered by various community organizations or via the 24 credit-hour GED program of the New York State Education Department administered through Columbia-Greene.
