HOW TO APPLY TO C-GCC

  • Complete a Columbia-Greene Application for Admissions We recommend applying on-line. Paper applications are available to download from our website or from our Admissions Office. There is a no fee for applying.
  • Submit an official high school or GED transcript. All applicants must request an official high school or GED transcript be sent directly to our Admissions Office in a sealed envelope. New York State requires that you request your GED in writing and remit a $4 money order or certified check. GED request forms are available at the New York State Education Department website (link opens in a new browser window) or from our Admissions Office.
  • Submit all official college transcripts. Applicants with prior college experience must request official transcripts be forwarded to our Admissions Office in a sealed envelope from every college attended.
  • Attend an admissions interview or information session if your major requires. Applicants who meet the following criteria are required to meet with an admissions counselor:
    • Human Services Majors
    • Home schooled applicants
    • Full time early admission applicants
    • IEP diploma holders
    • Non-high school degree/non-GED holders whose high school class has already graduate
    Applicants may call the Admissions Office to schedule their individual appointment.

    Applicants to the following majors are required to attend an Information Session:
    • Automotive Technology
    • Massage Therapy
    • Nursing
    • Teacher Education
    If you are interested in any of these majors, we recommend that you attend an Information Session as the first step in the admissions process.

    Dates and times for Information Sessions are available on our web site or from our Admissions Office.
  • Take any required placement tests. All applications are reviewed individually by an admissions counselor to determine the need for testing. Applicants are notified by the staff of any required tests. Dates and times for Placement Tests are available on our web site or from our Admissions Office.

Although we recommend beginning with the application and forwarding of transcripts, applicants may complete the admissions requirements in any order.

ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ADMISSION TO C-GCC

  • Apply for financial aid as you complete the admissions process. We encourage all applicants to file for financial aid. Financial aid includes grants, loans and work study. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Students must reapply for financial aid every year. Be sure to list C-GCC in the school section using our Federal Title IV code of 006789.
  • Submit your immunization records. New York State Public Health Law 2167 requires all post secondary students born on or after January 1, 1957 and enrolled for six or more credits, to document immunity against measles, mumps and rubella before registering for classes. More detailed information can be found in C-GCC's catalog or Student Handbook or by contacting the Director of Health Services, located in room 200.

    All students enrolled for at least six credits must also return the meningitis information response form certifying that they have had an immunization against meningococcal meningitis within the preceding ten years OR that they have received and reviewed the information about meningococcal meningitis provided by Columbia-Greene Community College and understand the risk of the disease and the benefits of immunization and have decided NOT to obtain the immunization.
  • Students registered for specific Nursing and Massage Therapy courses need a health assessment. Students enrolled in specific Massage Therapy and Nursing courses must submit an annual health assessment performed by a physician, nurse practitioner or physician's assistant to the Director of Health Services. Additionally, students enrolled in specific Massage Therapy and Nursing courses must comply with additional immunization requirements as indicated on the health assessment form. Students will be provided with specific information regarding the health assessment, including the due date, at the time of registration. Students failing to submit the COMPLETED health assessment form by the due date will be deregistered.
  • Student athletes need a health assessment. Student athletes must submit a health assessment performed by a physician, nurse practitioner or physician's assistant for each collegiate year in which they compete. This examination must be done on or after August 1st for the upcoming academic year. The completed health assessment form must be submitted to and approved by the Director of Health Services prior to the first practice.
  • Obtain a Certificate of Residence.
