This program was developed for students who can benefit from college instruction but are uncertain about their academic or career goals. Academic and career counseling are an integral part of the program, and students will be encouraged toward self-exploration as it relates to their vocational and academic interests. Many of the semester hours earned can be applied to specific associate degree programs. Students placed in the General Education Certificate program are required to complete basic skills courses or their equivalent. This certificate does not meet the requirements for earning a High School Equivalency Diploma by completing 24-college credits (see Page 17 for the appropriate course distribution). However, students may be able to learn the necessary skills to prepare for the High School Equivalency Diploma test.
