LIBRARY SERVICES

Audio Visual Department

This department provides the tracking and distribution of equipment requested by faculty and staff, the hosting of satellite teleconferences and the creation of licensed off-air tapes of educational programming.

Circulation Desk & Library Cards

At the Circulation desk you can check out books or items on reserve, return materials, or ask for assistance. C-GCC photo ID cards can be activated for Library use. Students, faculty, staff and residents of Columbia and Greene counties sixteen or older must show valid ID in order to get our standard Library cards.

Disabled Student Services

We provide facilities to support research and study to physically disabled students.

InterLibrary Loan Department

Did you ever need an article or book that our Library doesn't own? If we don't have what you need in our collections, fill out an ILL request form at the circulation desk (available to students, Empire State students, and college employees).

Internet Access

The Library provides Internet access to the public. During special class visits, students are able to use computers for Internet research. By using these computers, you must abide by the college's computer use policy, found in the Student Handbook.

Library Research Handouts

We have many handouts available to guide students with the creation of bibliographies, footnoting and with the research process.

Library Skills Course

We provide library research classes which are open to all students. They are free and many professors offer extra credit to encourage students to participate. We also offer an ONLINE version of the course where students can get lectures and assignments over the Internet. Some assignments require the students to physically come to the Library to complete. Pre-registration is required.

Online Databases

We have a variety of online subscriptions to databases which give you access to articles, many of which are full text. Remote access is now available to all currently enrolled C-GCC students. The databases are funded by SUNYConnect, the New York State Library and by C-GCC.

Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)

This online system lets you search our book catalog. We have over 50,000 books in our circulating collection. Visit our Book Catalog (link opens in new browser window).

Periodicals/Microfilm

These collections consist of over 400 subscriptions to magazines and newspapers in either print or microfilm.

Photocopying

We have two photocopiers and many microfilm copiers available. Copies are 10ยข per page.

Quiet Study Areas

We offer quiet study places in our Library conference room and on our second floor.

Reference

The Reference Librarians assist C-GCC students, faculty, staff and the general public with answering questions and locating information for research and general interest. Ask for help at the circulation desk or e-mail us.

Reserves

Course materials are placed at the circulation desk area by faculty. Some items can be taken out overnight.
