The Interlibrary Loan Department can request materials from other libraries if it is not in the Columbia-Greene Community College Library collection. This service is available to eligible patrons via ILLiad, the online Columbia-Greene Community College Library Interlibrary Loan service.
Occasionally there is a charge for Interlibrary Loan by the lending library. You will be notified through ILLiad if a charge is due. Payment of these charges is required when the material is picked up. Failure to pay will result in the loss of all borrowing privileges. In addition, a financial hold will be placed on the student’s record. A financial hold will prevent the student from getting/viewing grades and/or transcripts and the student will not be allowed to register for classes.
Any questions regarding Interlibrary Loan should be directed to Lynn Erceg at 518-828-4181, ext. 3289 or e-mail the Interlibrary Loan Department
The Interlibrary Loan Department provides service for the Columbia-Greene Community College academic community. This includes currently enrolled students taking credit bearing classes, faculty, administration and staff. In order to register and use ILLiad a borrower must have and provide a valid e-mail address. Borrowers must have a valid C-GCC library card and photo ID to pick up materials at the circulation desk in the library.
The loan periods for materials lent by other libraries vary. A slip is placed on the item which indicates the due date. Renewals may be made by logging into your ILLiad account before the actual due date. If you wish to renew after the due date, you will need to contact the ILL Office. Renewals depend on the lending library. Interlibrary Loan books are subject to recall by the lending library at any time.
Both pick up and return of all borrowed materials are made to the circulation desk at the C-GCC Library. The external book drop should NOT be used for fragile materials such as CDs/DVDs/VHS.
For items borrowed from a lending library, all fees will be charged to the borrower, including replacement fees. Failure to pay the fees will result in the loss of all borrowing privileges. In addition, a financial hold will be placed on the student’s record. A financial hold will prevent the student from getting/viewing grades and/or transcripts and the student will not be allowed to register for classes.
The Copyright law of the United States (Title 17 US Code) holds libraries to limitations on copying requests under the provisions of the Contu (National Commission on New Technological Uses of Copyrighted Works) “Fair Use” Guidelines. We are therefore limited on the number of copies we can request for journal titles and are prevented from requesting systematic or extensive reproduction of certain types of materials.
The Interlibrary Loan Department does not accept requests for required course textbooks or for materials that exist in the C-GCC Library.
