Expired: Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House”
November 11, 2017 @ 12:00 amAdmission: $10.00
One of the world’s most performed plays – and one with contemporary messages – will be staged at Columbia-Greene Community College’s Arts Center Theatre this month.
Classics @ the Point Theatre Ensemble will perform Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House on Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m., at C-GCC.
The performance, an English language version by Simon Stephens adapted and directed by Classics @ the Point Artistic Director Joseph Capone, who explained that A Doll’s House takes a close look at 19th century marriage, however his adaptation has incorporated some modern touches in an effort to further the longevity of the work and call attention to some of the themes that may resonate with present-day audiences.
“We hope to help it live on as long as it can, in part because it’s a fascinating play that illustrates how women struggle in particular,” he said. “The main character, Nora, is a real crusader, and an amazing example of how women push forward with their dreams and ambitions.”
Admission to all performances is $10 for the general public and $8 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available at the C-GCC campus and the Greene County Council on the Arts in Catskill, or by telephone at (518) 828-4181.
