Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA)

Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA)

The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) 2021, which was passed by Congress in late December 2020, provides additional funding to assist students through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, funds have been made available through the CRRSAA Act to award emergency grants to CGCC students for expenses related to the any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus.

Allowable expenses include tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or childcare.

Who is Eligible? NO APPLICATION REQUIRED!

SUNY has issued guidance on eligibility requirements. SUNY requires campuses to prioritize Pell eligible recipients starting with students at the lowest Expected Family Contribution (EFC’s).

Eligible students will receive CRRSAA Grants based on their EFC and enrollment for spring 2021 as of census date. CGCC will send out notification to all eligible recipients who have been awarded CRRSAA Grants.  Refund checks will be mailed directly to the students address on file with the Bursar’s Office.

Repayment

You do not have to repay a Federal Emergency Aid Grant. Federal CRRSAA Act Emergency Grant funds are designed as gift aid, and not as loans.

Impact on Existing Financial Aid Eligibility

This funding will not reduce your financial aid and does not negate nor replace financial aid.
