COVID-19 Policies for Fall 2021

COVID-19 Policies for Fall 2021

Given the continued concerns about the rapidly spreading COVID-19 Delta and Lambda variants, it is incumbent on the College to protect the health and safety of every on-campus student.

The protocols below are subject to change as COVID-19 conditions evolve – and the level of transmission recorded in Columbia and Greene Counties will be monitored closely. The College will comply with requirements imposed by SUNY and the local departments of health.

Vaccination Requirements

All on-campus students must be vaccinated within 35 days of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) lifting the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). The COMIRNATY® (COVID-19 Vaccine, mRNA) made by Pfizer for BioNTech has received full FDA approval as of August 23, 2021, so students should be fully vaccinated and submit proof of vaccination by September 27, 2021.

Students not in compliance will be withdrawn from their classes; standard refund policies will be in effect. Students not planning to receive the vaccine should plan to take virtual classes and use virtual student services. Unvaccinated students will not be eligible to participate in extracurricular activities (i.e., Athletics, Student Clubs and Organizations).

Masks

As of September 7, 2021, all on-campus employees, students, and visitors will be required to wear a mask or other protective equipment in public areas of the buildings (i.e., classrooms and laboratories, corridors, Academic Support Center, Library). Those with disabilities who have questions should contact Catherine Carlson via e-mail at catherine.carlson@sunycgcc.edu or call 518.818.4181, extension 3437.

Vaccination Management System

The College will use SUNY’s Vaccination Verification Application to track verified vaccination status of individuals vaccinated in the state of New York, available at https://www2.sysadm.suny.edu/studentVax/. Information on how to prepare for and how to use the SUNY Vaccination Verification Application can be viewed here. Students vaccinated outside of New York will be required to submit appropriate documentation to the Director of Health Services.

Health Screenings

Weekly surveillance testing will be required for all unvaccinated students. Vaccinated individuals will be required to test at least once a month. All on-campus students should perform daily health screenings. If feeling ill, stay home and/or seek medical care.

Cleaning

The College will clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces at least once a day and regularly clean and disinfect other surfaces as necessary. C-GCC will continue to provide hand hygiene stations and other supplies such as soap and disposable towels.
