Graduation ceremonies are designed to honor student academic achievement. We encourage all graduates to participate in the ceremony.

  • Application for Graduation – Click to view or print the Application for Graduation.
  • Information for Graduates – Graduation 2019 will take place at 9:45 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2019 in the college gymnasium.
    • If you have not yet done so, please file the Application for Graduation in the Office of Records and Registration as soon as possible.
    • Caps and Gowns: Are now available for pickup in the Student Activities Office!  Please see Karen for your regalia.
    • Invitations and Announcements are in! Please see Karen in Student Activities for your *free* copies.
    • Graduation Rehearsal: All graduates should make every effort to attend the graduation rehearsal on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 6:00 PM in the gymnasium. Graduates will report directly to their assigned robing room no later than 5:45 PM.  Also, information will be available on purchasing prints of the photo that will be taken as you receive your diploma.  If you are interested in placing an order, forms will be available in the robing room.   Free color proofs are mailed within five days of the ceremony.  Prices will be provided by the company.  The company deals directly with the graduates and there is no obligation to participate in this service.
    • Robing Room Assignments:  If your last name begins with A-H your robing room is Room 202.  If your last name begins with I-Z your robing room is Room 206.
    • Graduation Day: Students must report to their assigned robing room at 8:45 AM to prepare for entrance into the gymnasium, promptly at 9:45 AM.  Please be on time!
    • Students are encouraged to arrive dressed in appropriate lightweight clothing over which their gowns will be worn. It typically becomes very warm in the gymnasium during the ceremony.  Students may keep their caps, gowns, hoods and tassels after the ceremony.
    • Accessibility Seating: All guests are seated in the bleachers in the gymnasium.  For guests with mobility issues, limited floor seating will be available.  Please note that this seating is only for those with a disability and one companion to provide assistance. Please have the rest of your guests use the bleachers so everyone may be accommodated.  If you have questions, please contact Catherine Carlson at: 518-828-4181 ext 3437 or via email: catherine.carlson@sunycgcc.edu.
    • Reception: Immediately following the ceremony, a reception with light refreshments will be available for the graduates and their guests.  Weather permitting the reception will be outdoors on the South Lawn. If not, it will be held in the dining hall and student courtyard area. This will be a wonderful time to get those last pictures with family, friends and the faculty and staff who were part of your journey!

  • General Information – NOTE: The responsibility for meeting the requirements for a degree or a certificate rests with the student.
    • Students who are planning to graduate must apply for graduation and make an appointment with their adviser for a graduation check before starting their last semester to ensure that their course selections meet degree requirements.
    • To qualify for graduation, a student must have fulfilled all college requirements and have achieved the following:
      1. Apply for graduation in the Office of Records and Registration.
      2. Be a currently enrolled matriculated student or readmitted student for the purpose of graduation.
      3. Completion at Columbia-Greene Community College of at least 30 semester hours of course work for a degree or 15 semester hours of course work for a certificate.
      4. A 2.0 cumulative grade point average or better.
      5. Completion of a minimum of 60 semester hours as required in a degree program or 30 semester hours as required.
      6. Students who entered the college without a high school diploma or GED must apply to the New York state Education Department for an equivalency diploma. C-GCC cannot award a college degree without written assurance that the student has completed a high school program.
      7. Payment of all college fees and satisfaction of other college obligations.
