Graduation ceremonies are designed to honor student academic achievement. We encourage all graduates to participate in the ceremony.

  • Application for Graduation – Click to view or print the Application for Graduation.
  • Information for Graduates – Graduation 2019 will take place at 9:45 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2019 in the college gymnasium.
    • After filing the Application for Graduation in the Office of Records and Registration, caps and gowns can be ordered online at: http://cgcc.itsallgrad.com/ until Friday, March 29, 2019. There is no fee for orders submitted online.  After March 29, cap and gown orders must be placed with Karen Fiducia in the Student Activities Office.  Please note there will be a $10.00 late fee for cap and gown orders placed after March 29.
    • Graduates will pick up their caps and gowns from the Student Activities Office in early May.
    • All graduates should attend the graduation rehearsal on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 6:00 PM in the gymnasium. Graduates will report directly to their assigned robing room no later than 5:45 PM.
    • On the day of graduation, students must report to their assigned robing room at 8:45 AM to prepare for entrance into the gymnasium, promptly at 9:45 AM.  Please be on time!
    • Students are encouraged to arrive dressed in appropriate lightweight clothing over which their gowns will be worn. It typically becomes very warm in the gymnasium during the ceremony.
    • National Anthem – if any graduate is interested in singing the National Anthem at the ceremony, please contact the office of the Vice President/Dean of Students and Enrollment Management no later than Friday, April 5, 2019.
    • The Vice President/Dean of Students and Enrollment Management Office is soliciting nominations for Student Commencement Speaker.  The student commencement speaker must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher and be in good academic and judicial standing.  If you are interested in being a candidate, please submit a typed, 12-point font, double-spaced speech, no more than 3-4 minutes in length, to Room 205 in the Main Building or via email to: watson@sunycgcc.edu.  All submissions must be received no later than 4 PM, Thursday, April 4, 2019. Questions regarding the Student Commencement Speaker should be directed to Dean Watson.
    • Please check your SUNY C-GCC email frequently for news and announcements!
  • General Information – NOTE: The responsibility for meeting the requirements for a degree or a certificate rests with the student.
    • Students who are planning to graduate must apply for graduation and make an appointment with their adviser for a graduation check before starting their last semester to ensure that their course selections meet degree requirements.
    • To qualify for graduation, a student must have fulfilled all college requirements and have achieved the following:
      1. Apply for graduation in the Office of Records and Registration.
      2. Be a currently enrolled matriculated student or readmitted student for the purpose of graduation.
      3. Completion at Columbia-Greene Community College of at least 30 semester hours of course work for a degree or 15 semester hours of course work for a certificate.
      4. A 2.0 cumulative grade point average or better.
      5. Completion of a minimum of 60 semester hours as required in a degree program or 30 semester hours as required.
      6. Students who entered the college without a high school diploma or GED must apply to the New York state Education Department for an equivalency diploma. C-GCC cannot award a college degree without written assurance that the student has completed a high school program.
      7. Payment of all college fees and satisfaction of other college obligations.
